The female mosquito requires the blood meal in order for her eggs to mature.  Heat and Carbon Dioxide are the main cues that attract the mosquito to their host for this meal.  In the evening while it is getting dark, the photocell closes and activates or powers on the unit.  While running, the MKS mimics the host by providing a heat source and the release of warmed carbon dioxide from the unit.

The mosquito is attracted to the unit seeking the blood meal required for her eggs.  As the mosquito probes the skin of the MKS, they are vacuumed into the unit at the point of entry.  The mosquito is then forced through the unit where they are safely electrocuted and then discharged from the bottom of the Mosquito Killing System.
